Originally from East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, she had been evading capture since 2025, when she disappeared after marrying a man named Sudheer Reddy from Anantapur, taking roughly 380,000 rupees in dowry with her.

How the scheme unraveled

According to police, the 2025 case followed a now-familiar pattern: just three days after the wedding, Vajramani claimed to be feeling unwell and insisted on visiting her parents. Her husband accompanied her to the railway station, but partway through the journey — near the town of Nandyal — she got off and slipped into the crowd, never to be seen by him again.

When Sudheer Reddy realized his new wife had vanished, he searched the station but found no trace of her. He eventually filed a police complaint, and that investigation is what cracked the case wide open — revealing that Vajramani wasn’t a one-time scammer but had been running this con repeatedly.

A pattern of fraud — and accomplices

Investigators determined that Vajramani had carried out the same scheme with four other men, using a network of associates — identified as Suma Priya, Ashok, Shashikala, and Ramakrishna — who reportedly helped arrange the fraudulent matches in exchange for a cut of the proceeds extracted from unsuspecting grooms.

Police also confirmed she has two children from her previous marriages.

She was eventually tracked down and arrested in Pedavaduguru village while traveling from Karnataka toward Madanapalle. She is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.

A 27-year-old woman has been taken into custody in India’s southern Andhra Pradesh state after authorities uncovered an elaborate marriage fraud scheme that saw her wed five different men — each time vanishing with cash and gifts shortly after the ceremony.
