Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade has revealed a heartwarming story about how Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Farah Khan played a crucial role in helping him purchase his first home in Mumbai.
The disclosure came during a recent visit by Farah Khan to Talpade’s residence, where she had stopped by to film a segment for her cooking blog. As the two reminisced about old times, the conversation took a touching turn when Talpade opened up about one of the most significant moments of his personal life.
According to the actor, it was his earnings from the 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om that gave him the financial means to consider buying a home. However, when he approached a bank for a home loan, he was initially told he did not meet the eligibility criteria.
“The bank employee asked me which film I was working on,” Talpade recalled. “I told her Om Shanti Om. She then asked who the lead actor was and who had directed it. I said Shah Rukh Khan was the lead and Farah Khan was the director.”
The bank official then requested a letter of reference. Talpade reached out to Farah Khan, who within just two days arranged a letter from Shah Rukh Khan himself. That very evening, the bank approved his loan.
Released in 2007, Om Shanti Om was one of the biggest hits of that year, starring Shah Rukh Khan alongside Deepika Padukone in her debut role. The film was both a critical and commercial success, and clearly had a life-changing impact for Talpade as well — one that went well beyond the box office.
